Student Expense Fund

11 April 2018

Financial support for students affected by recent UCU Industrial Action

What is the fund for?

We recognise that for some of you, your learning and preparation for assessment has been disrupted this year due to the UCU industrial action.

All students affected by the industrial action are able to claim for expenditure incurred as a result of the strike. This forms part of an overall programme of opportunities which are outlined on our student support page.

The Fund covers, but is not limited to, the cost of travel, subsistence and childcare and any additional study materials required as a result of the strike action. Other costs will be considered on a case by case basis. For full details of financial support available, please refer to the SEF Terms & Conditions (PDF, 326kB)

How do I claim?

If you believe that you would be eligible to make a claim, please complete the short online claim form. You will be asked to upload images of receipts to provide evidence of the expenditure.

Following submission of a claim it will be assessed and you will be contacted via email. Students whose claims are successful will be asked to submit their bank details (or check that the details currently held are valid). It is important that students contacted about successful claims respond to the instructions in the emails they receive so that the payments can be made swiftly.
