clinical skills video

Clinical skills videos for MB ChB Medicine

We have been working closely with the Gloucestershire and Southmead clinical Academies in producing a series of clinical skills videos for the Hippocrates teaching website. JISC Digital Media and the Medical Education e-learning team have filmed the skills videos out on location at the Academies. To date, 10 videos have been produced. They are available via the Hippocrates teaching website.

3rd year medicine video

Students' experiences of 3rd Year Medicine

We interviewed a group of 4th year medical students about their experiences of their 3rd year – the first clinical year of their medicine programme. We asked the students what they expected at the start of their third year and how this differed from the reality, and what advice they would offer to their peers starting year 3. The responses from the students were enlightening! The video is aimed at prospective students and current students about to start their first clinical placements. The video will launch as part of the forthcoming new Medical School website.

primary care osce tutorial

Primary Care OSCE tutorial

We produced an easily accessible learning resource for 3rd year medical students that will prepare them for the Primary Care OSCE station and encourage reflection on their history taking and consultation skills. Students can view a recording of a mock Primary Care OSCE station (featuring actors and teaching fellows), and then mark the candidate's performance using an interactive marksheet. They can then compare their marks with the average marks given my some primary care examiners. The tutorial is available to medical students via Blackboard.
