Programme

Thinking Futures shares and celebrates the research undertaken in the University of Bristol’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Law.

The programme comprises a wide variety of events - from debates and discussions to workshop and exhibitions - all for the general public, schools, policy-makers and third sector organisations.

The 2017 programme

The Thinking Futures Festival this year will see a diverse range of events exploring themes from climate change to social conflict. 

Saturday 4 November

An inter-generational dialogue on climate change. A generational divide? Young people and their grandparents share thoughts on climate change.

Monday 6 November

Advising in austerity: Creating resilience in advice services. Advice service managers, researchers, policy-makers and lawyers explore solutions to the crisis in advice funding.

Tuesday 7 November

Engaging with engineering: what works and what doesn't. An opportunity for engineering companies to examine effective practice in engagements with schools and colleges.

Thursday 9 November

Children's participation in city spaces: What prevents children playing in city spaces and how do we best capture their views?

Saturday 11 November

From clash to creativity: igniting social imagination. A day exploring how to use arts and imagination to open up challenging community conversations.
