Research summary

The Land of the Summer People (2014- ongoing) is an art-science research collaboration between the artist Seila Fernández Arconada and Prof Thorsten Wagener of the Water and Environmental Engineering Research group at the University of Bristol, UK. It explores the unstable relationship between society, water and place by exploring flood impact in Somerset, England. Using creative and scientific methods this multidisciplinary project applies participatory research to understand societal response to extreme weather events.

Seila Fernández Arconada is a multidisciplinary artist-researcher based in Bristol (UK). Her ongoing projects include art-research collaborations with science and arts exploring collaborative creative methods. She carries on a research about innovative social art practices and collaborative methods while being actively involved in creation. Currently, she is developing the multidisciplinary collaborative project The Land of the Summer People, an art-science research collaboration with the Water Engineering Research group.
