Aquatic and Terrestrial Biogeochemistry Group

We develop and apply novel monitoring, sensing and high-resolution analytical techniques to characterise the nature, origins and ecological significance of contaminant fluxes in terrestrial, freshwater, estuarine and coastal waters.

Our research focuses on Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus in particular, on the composition and ecosystem functional role of the dissolved organic matter pool, and on a suite of emerging contaminants including recreational and pharmaceutical drugs, microplastics and their degradation products
