History

The current Quantitative Spatial Science group builds on a long and distinguished tradition. Led by Peter Haggett, Bristol was one of the pioneers of quantitative geography in the late 1960s, and the School continues to be a leading world centre of spatial analysis. The Group uniquely has two winners, Professor Haggett and Professor Ron Johnston of the Prix Vautrin Lud, the highest award a geographer can achieve. Both are also FBAs.
