Research interests

My research utilises strategic-relational state theory, neo-Foucauldian concerns with governmentality and geographical scale issues (especially local impact) to study contemporary welfare regimes. I have particular interests in:

• the geographies of neoliberal policy reform in the liberal welfare states of the UK, US and Canada
• resistance to neoliberal hegemony, particularly at a grassroots level
• social exclusion and the geographies of poverty, inequality and disadvantage
• cultural political economy approaches to the study of labour market regulation, welfare provision and urban renewal

I have developed these interests through a number of different research projects that focus on the impacts of current economic and social welfare initiatives.
