Andrea Finney has more than eight years' experience undertaking and managing social research studies in a policy environment and often in sensitive topic areas. Andrea applies both quantitative and qualitative methods and has particular expertise in the design and multivariate analysis of complex surveys.
Andrea joined PFRC in January 2007 having previously worked on the new longitudinal survey of household assets and debts at the Office for National Statistics. Prior to that, she worked at the Home Office for more than five years where she focused mainly on studies of alcohol-related crime and national crime surveys, notably the British Crime Survey and the Commercial Victimisation Survey.
Andrea's main research interests lie in furthering understanding of patterns of saving, borrowing, financial difficulties and decision-making. She is co-author of a report to the European Commission on the nature and causes of over-indebtedness, has analysed the results of the baseline survey of consumer purchasing for the Financial Services Authority and, more recently, has been involved in analysis of the results from the Wealth and Assets Survey (for which Andrea also contributes to the Technical Group on an ongoing basis).
