Bristol graduates join a vibrant global community of 145,000 graduates in more than 180 countries. The Campaigns and Alumni Relations office connects more than 100,000 UK and international alumni in every field and almost every country - a great network to belong to that can bring lifelong career and social benefits.
There are many overseas alumni groups (sometimes referred to as Branches of Convocation) that offer a range of activities from social events, both formal and informal, to gatherings with an academic focus which may involve University staff who are travelling abroad. Local groups are an excellent way for alumni working abroad to meet new people who share a common bond. For those returning overseas having studied at Bristol, an alumni group helps maintain friendships and links with the University.

Bristol is committed to ensuring that students have a fulfilling, demanding and intellectually stimulating experience at university that prepares them for employment and worldwide opportunities when they leave. Bristol alumni are innovators, entrepreneurs and influencers, changing the UK and the world for the better in fields as diverse as business, research, public policy and entertainment.
The University's Careers Service helps graduates get on the career ladder, in the UK and abroad, and the service is free for the first three years after graduation. All recent alumni who register with the service also have access to the Careers Network, an invaluable tool that enables graduates and current students to network with over 700 alumni in a range of industries around the world. Many members are in a position to offer work experience placements or vacation work, and all are happy to offer informal advice exclusively to Bristol alumni and students.
Getting involved
Bristol graduates play a vital role in the continued success of the University and its global alumni network. Former students can get involved in many ways.
There is a wide variety of volunteering opportunities. You may choose to provide career support for current students, organise social and networking events for alumni, or get involved with the University's governance by becoming a representative on Court. There are volunteering opportunities in regional alumni groups as well as on the central Convocation Committee, the standing committee of the University’s alumni association.
Alumni can also show their commitment to the University by giving financial support. In 2009, Bristol University celebrated the hundredth anniversary of the granting of its Royal Charter. In celebration of this milestone, the University launched the Centenary Campaign to raise £100 million which will ensure that Bristol enters its second century stronger and more successful than ever.
