Expertise

Safety and final stage validation

Operating to Home Office standards, this centre enables development and validation of new treatments within state-of-the-art facilities. The ability to undertake this validation in an NHS-standard environment in the UK ensures that new techniques are both safe and effective for patients when progressed to in-man trials.

Collaboration and shared expertise

Access to a broad range of expertise spanning multiple disciplines, from human and veterinary medicine to engineering and imaging, provides a unique environment in which new treatments can be developed.

Benefiting animals

The facility enables new companion animal treatments to progress rapidly through translation from effective human treatments. The state of the art centre also means that moving forwards, fewer animals will be needed in research as treatments proceed more rapidly from lab to bedside and proof of effectiveness is gained from a living animal. Langford’s worldwide reputation for animal welfare expertise ensures that animals are well cared for during research. As the centre is designed to facilitate longitudinal studies, the animals are also typically maintained to maturity in order to evidence that the treatment is effective with positive health outcomes for the patient.
