Beyond compliance: hearing unheard voices: The University of Bristol EDI choir

Conveners: Mrs Beth Tarleton (Policy Studies)

Beyond compliance: hearing unheard voices: The University of Bristol EDI choir  is an interdisciplinary, inclusive project investigating Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) issues faced by staff and students at the University of Bristol.

EDI Survey and Choir

Join the University Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) choir!

Everyone is invited - whether you feel you face barriers yourself or want to support those who do. The University EDI choir aims to raise issues and work positively for change through singing and the wide dissemination of our survey findings.

We’ve already sung one song about EDI issues at the University...watch our video to see how it all came together.

We are going to write another song from the survey responses.

We are running two workshops where we will start to sing together, share stories, look at the survey findings and write our next song. (All information shared will be treated as confidential). The workshops are on 11th and 25th February 2- 4.30 in the School for Policy Studies common room at 8 Priory Road.  Please let us know if you are coming via Eventbrite, so that we have enough cake.

The weekly choir rehearsals, led by Emma Smallwood one hour in term time only, start on Monday 4th March 1-2pm also in the common room at 8 Priory Road.  Bring your lunch, we’ll have the kettle on from 12.30pm. Please let us know if you are coming via Eventbrite

The choir has drawn inspiration from ‘complaints choirs’ which sing for change and develop empathy and solidarity through this joint quest to make situations better.
