Role

I worked at the ILRT from 1997 to 2004 as a Web developer within the Internet Development group, specialising in producing accessible and usable Web sites and applications, largely with open-source tools. I worked on a wide range of projects within the University of Bristol, for other Higher Education institutions, for non-profit organisations, and also occasionally in the commerical sector. Examples of the kinds of projects I worked on include 234car, a Web-based car sharing system, and BOS, a Web-based system for creating, deploying and analysing surveys.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

I have a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Bristol.

From 2007 to 2010 I was Head of Technology at The Local Europe AB, a European news organisation. I was responsible for all aspects of the technology behind a network of sites which, at the time I left, received over 3 million visitors and 25 million page views per month.
