I am responsible for strategic planning for ILRT - the R&D function of the University's IT Services - ensuring that the University benefits from innovation in the use of technology for research and learning, underpinned by a balanced portfolio of activity and a sustainable financial model.

I have led and been co-applicant in a wide range of projects and services in ILRT since 1995 at national and European levels, particularly exploring the use of ICT and digital scholarship in the social sciences and arts and humanities, research information management and sustainable ICT. I have reviewed ESRC, EU and JISC project proposals in these areas.

I am particularly interested in how people can work with and through technology to enable new forms of research and to help discover, connect and present data (including images, text etc) for learning, research and management processes. I am also interested in organisational development and learning and the strategic use of technology in higher education.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling, family history research and the occasional sip of real ale.
