More about this project

The Virtual Training Suite is a national eLearning service for Higher and Further Education in the UK, offering FREE "teach yourself" tutorials delivered over the Web, for students, lecturers and researchers who want to learn what the Internet can offer in their subject.

The Virtual Training Suite currently offers over 60 tutorials. This is a public service from JISC.

The ILRT team have co-ordinated input from more than 100 academics and librarians from universities and colleges across the UK, to create this resource, packaging up national expertise to make it freely available for all to learn from.

ILRT has developed "in-house" Web tutorial software, now with a unique database-driven, Web-editing system to enable remote updating of tutorials. We are currently developing educational metadata and pedagogic models for using our materials in Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs). We also do consultancy work for the Higher Education Academy and others, wishing to build tutorials using our model and system.
