Professor Matthew Avison

I have been running a research team for the last 10 years studying antibiotic resistance mechanisms in hospital "super-bugs". As editor for two international scientific journals during that time, I have developed a broad understanding of the global state of hospital acquired infections, antibiotic resistance, and research efforts in these areas, and of medical microbiology and infectious disease issues in general. I also have considerable expertise in the area of molecular biology (cloning, genetic modification etc).
