When you arrive in Bristol you should register with your local doctor/GP. You can search the NHS website for a doctor (GP) near you or refer to the Avon NHS website, which has a listing of Bristol doctors.
As a member of the University of Bristol's staff, you can register with the National Health Service (NHS). This includes sponsored researchers and others working with the University of Bristol who will be in the UK for a period of longer than six months.
We recommend you get travel insurance when travelling outside of the UK. Some travel agents and airlines require it. The cost and terms of travle insurance will vary by provider but will generally cover cancellation and delay, and medical emergencies while abroad. Check that the cover you purchase does include medical cover.
Travel insurance is available from a number of providers and can be purchased online. If you are travelling for University purposes, you must ensure you are covered by University insurance - please contact your Faculty Personnel Manager for further information.
