The following entry requirement information is for guidance only. Competition for places at the University of Bristol is very strong and every application is considered on its individual merits. We aim to get you a response as quickly as possible to help you plan your studies.

Entry requirements for undergraduate courses

You can apply for undergraduate programmes either through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) or The Common Application. Please use only one method of applying. If you are using UCAS to apply for other UK universities, please also make your University of Bristol application through UCAS and do not use the Common Application.The UCAS code name and number for this University is BRISL B78.

Individual course entry requirements are listed in our Undergraduate Prospectus for each course.

  • Candidates who have gained the Secondary School Leaving Diploma (obtained since 1980) with good grades can be considered for entry to the first year of our Bachelor's degrees.
  • Applicants who hold a Diploma o polo┼żenom maturskom ispitu (RS) / Diploma o završenoj srednjoj školi (FiBH) (Secondary School Leaving Diploma) with good grades can be considered for entry to the first year of our Bachelor's degree courses.
  • Applicants will be required to meet the English language requirements for the programme. The profile level requirements can be found on the English language requirements for study page.

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes

You should apply online for all our postgraduate programmes.

To be considered for admission to postgraduate study at the University of Bristol, the minimum requirement for entry is an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree that is equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree (also known as a 2:1). Please refer to the Postgraduate Admissions Statements for each programme for individual entry requirements.

  • Candidates who hold a Diploma Visokog Obrazovanja / Diplomirani (Advanced Diploma of Higher Education / Bachelor's degree) with very good grades can be considered for postgraduate study.
  • Applicants will be required to meet the English language requirements for the programme. The profile level requirements can be found on the English language requirements for study page.

Scholarship information

Each year, the International Office rewards the highest achieving international students with scholarships that contribute towards the cost of their tuition fees. The International Office Scholarship is available for new international students.

Candidates who hold a Visoko Obrazovanja with very good grades can be considered for postgraduate study.

The standard requirement for entry to a taught masters programme at Bristol is an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree that is equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree (also known as a 2:1).
