Problems with the Storage Area Network (SAN) are no longer affecting a wide range of services

alert

[20 April 2012]

Update, 12:50, 20 April: The SAN performance has improved and the majority of services should be performing normally.  We are monitoring the situation closely and working with our external support to identify the cause of this morning's problem.

11:45am, 20 April: We have reported problems with the University Storage Area Network (SAN).

This means that a significant number of services will be unavailable or will run slowly.

The services which seem to be affected include, but are not limited to:

  • Library and Database Systems
  • SQL Cluster
  • Topdesk (due to the SQL cluster)
  • Proactis
  • Print Servers
  • Staff and Student Remote Desktop
  • Matlab

We are not yet sure of what the underlying problem and are working with our external support company MTI with the aim to identify and resume services as soon as possible.

Updates will be published on this page and the IT status page.
