  • Access to University file storage services

Note: All files stored in user home directories will continue to be available on the new service.

Please note the following changes to the current service:

  • The command-line prompt will change to reflect University user name and server name. This will not affect the use of the service.
  • Installed Operating System will change from Oracle Solaris to Debian GNU/Linux, in-line with current standards. Functionality to support the above services will be retained.
  • Software compiled, built or installed by a user will no longer be supported and existing software is likely not to function. Alternative provision for software development can provided on request.
  • The service may no longer be fit for use as a teaching resource. Please, contact the Service Desk to arrange for appropriate facilities.
  • The facility for configuring email software with the service as an outgoing SMTP server will be retired. Please follow instructions at http://www.bris.ac.uk/it-services/applications/email/related-services/manual-config.html for alternatives.
