ResNet provides Internet access to rooms in University accommodation[1]. ResNet is a very high speed connection, probably faster than you are used to at home. You connect to ResNet using a network socket on the wall in your room or via the eduroam wireless signal available in almost all study bedrooms.
Most modern computers will work with ResNet. You can also connect more than one computer, or a computer and games console, but may need extra equipment.
Please bring your Windows CD or computer manufacturer's Recovery CD or Restore CD. These are essential to restore your computer to the factory-supplied state if you encounter a problem with it.
All laptops have international voltage-sensing power supplies which will work with the 220V supply in the UK. You will need a travel adapter to connect to the 3-pin UK sockets.
Yes. The ResNet service is already live and ready for you.
We provide a cable and easy to follow instructions for every student, ready in your residence when you arrive.
If you need help getting connected please telephone the ResNet start of term hotline: open Monday-Friday on 0117 928 9001, or 89001 free from your room. If your query is less urgent you might prefer to email us at resnet-help@bristol.ac.uk
