By car / on foot
The Language Centre is located at 30/32 Tyndall's Park Road in the Redland/Cotham area of Bristol. Tyndall's Park Road connects St. Michaels Hill, Woodland Road and Whiteladies Road. If you come up Woodland Road and turn to your left at the top, we are the second building on your left-hand side.
Please be aware that there are only very limited parking spaces available within the university, especially during the daytime. Please tell us in advance if you plan to park your car here.
By public transport
There are several buses that stop near to the Language Centre:
- Number 9 (from Temple Meads, via Broadmead and the city centre) stops opposite The Hawthorns, a short walk from the Language Centre.
- Numbers 54, 1/2, 54, 55, 41, 42, 43 and 98/99 stop on Whiteladies Road, opposite the BBC building.
- A free university and hospital bus service links Temple Meads, the bus station, the city centre and the main University precinct. Ask to be let off at The Hawthorns, then walk left along Woodland Road to the end and turn left.
The service operates from 6.30 am to 6 pm, Mondays to Fridays, every 12-24 minutes. Further details including timetables are available from the shuttlebus page on the University web site.
Coming from outside Bristol
If you are arriving in Bristol by coach (e.g. from Heathrow Airport or Bristol International), you will stop at the main bus station. It is near the bottom of St.Michaels Hill and only about a mile away from the Language Centre. However, the hill is rather steep and you may prefer to take a taxi.
If you are arriving by train, you will arrive at Temple Meads station. From there you can take bus number 9 or the free shuttlebus service directly to the University.
If you are coming by car, you will probably approach Bristol on the M32. Follow it right to the end and turn right. On the next roundabout, follow the sign "Through Traffic" and drive past the bus station. After several sets of traffic lights (a short distance), you will find St. Michaels Hill turning off to your right. Go up the steep hill and continue going straight on until you see Tyndalls Park Road on your left.
