Discussion on replacing the Human Rights Act with a British Bill of Rights

5 June 2015, 5.30 PM - 5 June 2015, 7.00 PM

The government is proposing to replace the Human Rights Act with a British Bill of Rights. But what will this mean for us in the UK, and for human rights around the world? Does the European Convention on Human Rights matter anymore? Kerry McCarthy (Labour MP for Bristol East), Steven Greer (University of Bristol), Charley Pattison (Justice Spokesperson for The Green Party), Emily Baughan (University of Bristol) and Ade Couper (chair of Bristol Amnesty International) will discuss the national and international implications, if any, of replacing our human rights law.
