Ten Years Community Interest Company Anniversary Celebration

16 July 2015, 11.30 AM - 16 July 2015, 6.30 PM

University of Bristol Law School, Wills Memorial Building, Bristol BS8 1RJ

The Community Interest Company (CIC) was introduced in 2005, offering social enterprises a flexible and adaptable corporate legal form to structure their business in ways that are compatible with their social, environmental and economic objectives.

Ten years on, we take stock to celebrate the success of the pioneering CIC format that has attracted interest and sparked further corporate reform initiatives worldwide. We take this opportunity to reflect on the stories of successful CICs, to compare experiences on the ground and to discuss ongoing challenges including investment, accounting, governance and public service commissioning and procurement.

This event is organised by the Centre for Law and Enterprise, University of Bristol Law School, in collaboration with Policy Bristol, University of Bristol; Sara Burgess, Regulator of Community Interest Companies; Social Enterprise Works CIC; Bates Wells Braithwaite LLP; and June Burrough, Social Entrepreneur and Founder Director of the Pierian Centre.

We are delighted to welcome the Mayor of Bristol who will address the lunchtime plenary session at this event.
