Bristol beats Exeter in Inaugural “Intervarsity Day” Contest

20 November 2014

The Inaugural “Bristol-Exeter ‘Intervarsity Day’ Contest”, sponsored by Burges Salmon, took place on Saturday 15 November, and saw Bristol narrowly defeat Exeter. The contest spanned three events: Mooting, Debating and various Sports. Mooting and Debating each had three competitions. The First and Second Year Mooting teams (comprising Sanya Rajpal and Jenny Wilson, and Emily Allison and Anthony Asindi, respectively) won comprehensive victories over their Exeter counterparts, while the Third Year Team (Natasha Miller and Stephanie Lloyd) were narrowly beaten by their Exeter opponents. Both Jenny and Emily were nominated “Mooters of the Day”. Bristol won the First Year debating (Connor Donnithorne and Elle May) but lost both the Second and Third Year competitions (Tom King and Ed Hitchen, and Cindy Laing and Liv Featherstone, respectively). Tom King was, however, nominated best debater of the day. Overall, in view of the fact that Bristol came out top in the sporting events, Bristol was declared the ultimate winner.

It is hoped that the event will become a permanent fixture in the Law School calendar. The Law School would like to thank UBLC for their efforts in organising the event and Burgess Salmon for their generous sponsorship. The event also raised nearly £1000 for Cancer Research
