Bristol Hosts Asylum and Migration Workshop

Early career researchers working in the field of asylum and migration came together last month for a one day work shop funded by the South West Doctoral Training Centre (SWDTC). The workshop was organised by Jess Hambly, a doctoral candidate and tutor in the law school, and attended by scholars from Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff and Oxford Universities along with representatives from the British Red Cross. Discussions focused on adjudication and advocacy in asylum appeals, the challenges of doing empirical research in asylum and migration, and questions of family reunion, citizenship and welfare provision for migrants. Interdisciplinary dialogue was a key feature of the day, with people coming from a variety of backgrounds across law, the social sciences and the charitable sector.

For more information about the research projects featured at the workshop, or if you would like to be included in future events, please email Jess Hambly.
