Dr Eirik Bjorge was a part of the Kenyan team in the proceedings before the International Court of Justice in the case Maritime Delimitation in the Indian Ocean (Somalia v Kenya). Hearings were held in the Peace Palace in The Hague, 19–23 September 2016. The hearings concerned the question of whether the Court has jurisdiction to hear the case; only if the Court finds that it has jurisdiction, will the maritime delimitation case go forward. Eirik (third from the right) was working alongside a delegation of Kenyan officials headed up by Attorney General Githu Muigai SC and a team of counsel led by Professor Vaughan Lowe QC.
