Omar Madhloom appointed co-Chair of the Bristol Pro Bono Group

27 April 2021

Omar Madhloom, Senior Lecturer in the University of Bristol Law School, supervisor at the Law School’s Law Clinic, and practising solicitor, has been appointed Chair of the Bristol Pro Bono Group together with Rachel Lobley (Simmons & Simmons LLP).

The Bristol Pro Bono Group, of which the University of Bristol is a member, works to promote and enhance pro bono legal support and access to justice.

The group works collaboratively to identify not-for-profit organisations working in the public interest who need legal help and encourages lawyers to work with local universities and community groups to provide free legal advice to individuals who don't have access to legal advice.

Reflecting on his appointment Omar said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Chair of the Bristol Pro Bono Group, together with Rachel Lobley (Simmons & Simmons LLP), and look forward to working with law firms and law centres in Bristol.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to social justice, legal ethics, and address the legal challenges faced by vulnerable clients.

This new appointment compliments my existing role as a trustee for Clinical Legal Education Organisation (CLEO), a UK-based charitable organisation aimed at fostering, promoting and developing clinical legal education.”
