Lerong is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol. Prior to this, he was a Teaching Fellow in Financial Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London.

Lerong holds a PhD in Law and a Master of Laws (with Distinction) from the University of Leeds, and obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics degrees from the East China University of Political Science and Law. He is a qualified attorney-at-law in China.

Lerong’s research interests lie broadly in international financial law, in particular, the regulation of shadow banking and fintech. He has published extensively in leading commercial and financial law journals, such as Journal of Business Law, Banking and Finance Law Review, Journal of International Banking Law and Regulation, and Butterworths Journal of International Banking and Financial Law. He is the author of the book: Private Lending in China (1st edition, Routledge 2018).

Lerong teaches Banking Law at undergraduate level, as well as Company Law, International Corporate Finance, and Regulation of Financial Markets & Institutions at postgraduate level. 

Lerong welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD appliants who have research interests in relation to the study of law and finance.
