Discover Our Research
Our research tackles the diverse difficulties and dilemmas of human experience throughout the world. We structure our research to foster research-led teaching that is relevant to the core curriculum - whilst creating opportunities by encouraging innovation in many other areas of law.
The Law School is home to a number of very successful research centres. These formalise the research and reputational strengths of the School, attract high-calibre staff and students - and provide a community of scholarship that extends way beyond the walls of the university.
Law School staff are very successful at winning grants and our portfolio of externally-funded research now covers a wide range of legal and socio-legal themes. Our grant income has more than doubled over the past five years and staff are engaged in cutting edge, original research projects that are making a significant impact on lives around the world.
Virtually every aspect of human experience is shaped by and filtered by law. We are dedicated to encouraging our researchers to be innovative as they tackle the full spectrum of difficulties and dilemmas of the human experience. As a result, our themes reflect the rich diversity of life in a global society.
Our vision is to further internationalise our research, building on our position in the UK as a top five research-intensive law school to becoming a true global player.
