Introduction to digitisation workshop

This practical workshop is intended for anyone who wishes to digitise paper documents or images; this may be for your own research or teaching, to help share content more widely or to help protect fragile originals.
We'll look at how to manage your digitisation workflow before undertaking a practical session on how to use cameras, scanners and copy stands. All equipment is provided but feel free to bring a document to scan.
This workshop is run jointly by the Research Data Service and UoB Special Collections.
By the end of this workshop you’ll be able to:
- Define your own ‘target’ digital format
- Select an appropriate digitisation technique
- Understand the importance of lighting and calibration
- Identify sources of further information
