Publisher open access schemes

• The University of Bristol is a subscribing institution.
• Discounts are offered to authors who are ACS members and/or affiliated with a subscribing institution.

• Funds permitting, when you submit an article to Biomed Central, it will automatically be charged to the University's pre-pay account and the fee deducted automatically when your article is published.
• You will be asked to supply a code. Please contact: open-access@bristol.ac.uk to be given the code.
• Pre-pay membership provides researchers with a 15% discount on the Article Processing charge with all BioMed Central journals.
• Submit your article using a University of Bristol email address and list the University of Bristol as your affiliated institution.

• Funds permitting, when you submit an article to one of these journals (Word, 19 KB) published by the BMJ Group for Gold open access publication, it will automatically be charged to the University's pre-pay account and the fee deducted automatically when your article is published.

• When you submit an article to Elsevier, it will be charged to the University's pre-payment account and a discounted fee will be deducted automatically when your article is published.
• During the Elsevier submission process you will be offered several different licence types. When offered the choice you must select the CC-BY licence type to be RCUK compliant.
• Please  note: Cell Press and Lancet titles are not included in the pre-payment plan. Please submit a claim form for any of these titles.

• The University of Bristol subscribes to the European journal of endocrinology.
• This entitles corresponding authors based at the University of Bristol to a 50% reduction in the open access fee.

• The University of Bristol has agreed a limited number of pre-paid Article Processing Charges for IEEE journals.
• When submitting an article for publication by IEEE please follow this link for more information; an author digital tool-box is also available.
• On submission you will be asked to supply a code. To avoid unnecessary delays please contact open-access@bristol.ac.uk prior to submission to check that you are eligible and to receive the code. When submitting your article please state clearly that you wish to use the University of Bristol pre-paid funds and supply the code.

• The University of Bristol has institutional membership of Nucleic acids research journal.
• Researchers are entitled to receive a 50% discount on the Article Processing charge.
• Please complete the member version of the open access publication form which will be sent to you in your acceptance message.

• The University of Bristol has institutional supporter membership of the Royal Society.
• This membership entitles submitting authors, employed by the University of Bristol, to a 25% discount on Article Processing Charges on articles published in any of the Royal Society’s journals.
• Confirm your institutional membership during the submission process and use your University of Bristol-mail address to indicate your affiliation.

• The University of Bristol subscribes to the RSC Gold package of journals.
• Under the RSC Gold for Gold scheme this gives the University RSC Open Access credits, which can be used by University of Bristol researchers to publish their papers in RSC journals free of charge, as Gold Open Access articles, without paying the normal APCs.
• The University of Bristol has purchased some additional Gold Open Access vouchers for RCUK funded researchers only.
• RSC provide a list of titles included in this scheme.
• In the first instance, please contact the Head of Department Prof. Nick Norman or the Deputy Head of Department Prof. David Smith if you wish to be considered for one of these credits.
• Authors will be referred to Library staff who oversee the distribution of RSC Gold Open Access credits / voucher codes. Please be aware that before you can apply to make your article Open Access it must have been formally accepted by the journal. You must complete and submit the RSC online form and at this stage you will need the voucher code which will be supplied by the Library. Please e-mail open-access@bristol.ac.uk.
• If you are RCUK funded than please select the CC BY licence to be compliant.

• Upon acceptance of your article by any SAGE traditional journal you will be given the option to select SAGE Choice which enables your article to be published Open Access. You will be sent a SAGE Choice Publishing Agreement Form which you should complete and return. Please ignore the Billing Information Form.
•  If you have submitted articles to any SAGE fully open journals you will receive a similar Publishing Agreement Form which should be completed.
• The SAGE Publishing Agreement Form includes an Institutional Payment Code field which must be completed. Please contact: open-access@bristol.ac.uk to be given the code.
• Funds permitting APCs will automatically be charged to the University's pre-pay account and the fee deducted when your article is published. You will be entitled to a discounted APC rate of £200 for titles within the Sage Premier 2013 package.

• The University of Bristol subscribes to the Journal of endocrinology, Journal of molecular endocrinology and Endocrine related cancer.
• This entitles corresponding authors based at the University of Bristol to a 50% reduction in the open access fee.

• This entitles researchers to a 20% discount on Article Processing Charges.
