About the Library

The University Library is made up of 10 libraries situated in or near the relevant academic faculty or school, and employs just over 150 staff.

The Library provides access to and support for millions of research and learning resources in print and online, and is committed to providing high-quality facilities and services to enrich scholarship at the University.

Services

The Library provides a wide range of services, including:

• Many thousands of electronic books, journals and databases (go to MetaLib: your resource gateway)
• About 1.4 million volumes of printed books and journals: the largest academic collection in the south west of England (go to the Library Catalogue)
• Professional subject liaison and support
• Lending and reference facilities at 10 libraries
• Inter-library lending and document supply services
• Rich holdings of rare books and manuscripts
• Arrangements for access to other university libraries
