Item collection service

Order items in advance for collection from your chosen branch library

If you know that time is going to be limited on your next visit to the library, you can order items from the shelves in advance so that they are ready for you to collect from the issue desk. We can also transfer books between branches for collection from your preferred branch library. To order items in advance of your visit you should complete the online Item Collection Form, making sure that you provide all relevant bibliographic and personal details, including the date you intend to visit to collect the items.

Please note that you may order a maximum of five items at one time. We usually require five days' notice to fulfil a request, although we may be able to retrieve items more quickly depending on their location and availability. Once your items are ready for collection we will contact you via your University of Bristol email address, and as we cannot keep items aside indefinitely we will confirm the date by which you must have collected them (they will usually be returned to the open shelves after seven days).

Authorise someone to collect items from the library on your behalf

If you are unable to visit the library in person, you can also authorise someone else to collect books on your behalf. However, as the library has strict access policies this has to be arranged with us in advance. Please contact us, providing all relevant details including the name of the person who will be collecting the books for you, and the date and approximate time of their visit. To enable us to put arrangements in place we appreciate as much advance notice as possible.
