User IDs, PINs and passwords

University of Bristol Library Catalogue

To sign-in to the Library Catalogue use your University of Bristol username and password; your UOB username should be in the form of  ab1234 (undergraduates, and some postgraduates) or lwabc (staff, and some postgraduates).

You will need to sign-in to the Library Catalogue to access the 'My Library Account' facility where you can:

  • check your loans and renew them if necessary
  • reserve an item currently on loan to someone else
  • reserve a Short Loan Collection (SLC) item for a particular time in the future
  • use the 'Inter-Library Loan' option to request material not held by the University Library
  • view a list of your cash transactions
  • view your borrowing history

The Library PIN is your 4 digit library security number and you will need this together with your UCard to use the Self-issue machines available in some branch libraries.

You can look up your Library PIN on the University portal, MyBristol. Log into the portal using your UoB username and password and visit the Library tab at the top of the page. You will see a channel called 'My Library Account' and in that box a heading 'Library PIN'. Select this heading to show your Library PIN. Alternatively, take your library card to any branch library Issue Desk, ideally when you first receive the card, where library staff will give you a written record of the four-number sequence. If you are unable to visit a branch library or access the Portal then please contact AddLibS staff. Keep this written record in a safe place away from your library card and do not disclose your number to anyone.
