Texthelp Read&Write can be found in all branch libraries, the computer centre and most halls of residence PCs. Texthelp Read&Write is an integrated solution for users with literacy needs. TextHelp provides a text reader that reads the document as you type, or reads from an existing document.
Read&Write Standard provides a floating toolbar that will help improve reading and writing skills, and works in conjunction with a word processor, Internet Explorer and other applications to aid and improve every aspect of the learning spectrum. The toolbar includes the following features:
The playback facility enables the software to read highlighted text. Text can be read back by each word, sentence or paragraph, or read as you type. Words can be highlighted as they are spoken for audio-visual reinforcement, increasing word recognition levels.
Read&Write provides a spell checker to analyse and correct spellings. You can choose to spell check as you type or at the end of your document. Any spelling mistake will be identified and the spell checker window will provide a list of suggested corrections with the meanings of each.
Read&Write provides an option to complete your words with the word prediction tool. It provides support to construct sentences with ease, and predicts the word that you may want to use next.
Users with disabilities such as dyslexia can often find it hard to distinguish between two similar sounding words, known as homophones, for example there and their, or two and to. The homophone support feature allows you to work efficiently, and to use homophones in accurate contexts.
Read&Write provides the option to define words, provide an alternative word or provide sample sentences. The speech reader also provides the option to read the sample sentences out loud before inserting into your document.
Read&Write provides a useful calculator that is simple to use and provides a step-by-step audit trail to see your calculations as you type them in.
