Access to other university libraries for UoB students

Under the terms of the SCONUL Vacation Access scheme, undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from the University of Bristol may be allowed Reading and Reference access to the libraries of other higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland who are members of the Society of College, National & University Libraries (SCONUL) during the host institutions' vacations and on production of a valid UoB student card.

Please note: You will not be allowed to borrow books or to use electronic sources of information.

Please note: You should always check the other library's web pages, or telephone prior to your visit, to find out vacation dates, opening hours and documentation required.

Libraries not in the scheme

You may also be able to use libraries not in the SCONUL scheme by presenting your UoB student card. Please contact the library you wish to visit to make arrangements before you travel.

Access to UoB libraries for students from other HE institutions

Under the terms of the SCONUL Vacation Access scheme,  undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from other higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland whose libraries are members of the Society of College, National & University Libraries (SCONUL) may have access to the University of Bristol Library during the University of Bristol vacations on production of a valid student ID card.

The scheme provides for access to books and journals on open shelves. It does not permit access to electronic sources of information; nor does it provide for borrowing from the libraries.

Please note: Visiting students should carry a valid student card and be prepared to present it on request.

Undergraduates who would like access to UoB library facilities during term time

Undergraduate students who would like access to UoB library facilities during term time should join the SCONUL Access scheme with staff at their home institution library prior to their visit. If your institution is not a member of the SCONUL Access scheme, please contact the University of Bristol Library Membership Services:
