Evolution

We study how molecules, genomes, microbes, plants and animals evolve, and learn about the evolutionary history of life. We further aim to understand the evolution and maintenance of diversity at different levels of biological organisation, both at a taxonomic and at an ecosystem level.

Core to these advances is the University's investment in and development of state-of-the-art technologies for evolutionary genomics, computational genomics, and palaeobiology. Significant breakthroughs in our scientific understanding depend on developing the statistical and computational tools to be able to properly take advantage of these data.
