Entry requirements

Country-specific information

Entry requirements and processes vary from country to country. Look at our country-specific breakdown for information about entry criteria, scholarships, agencies, and other information related to your country of origin.

Language requirements

If English is not your first language you will need a language qualification to be accepted onto our courses. Find out what language qualifications and scores we accept (IELTS, TOEFL).

The University has a Language Centre with summer courses in English Language to prepare you for both postgraduate and undergraduate study. They will help improve your English before courses start in September/October. Find out more information about our pre-sessional language courses.

We also run a one-year long International Foundation Programme to prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree.

Support during your degree.

We understand that the transition to an English-speaking university can be challenging. Throughout your degree we can support you with your academic English, academic literacy and critical development.

Fees and funding

Some international undergraduate students are funded by scholarships, some fund themselves. Search for scholarship opportunities.

There is some funding available for postgraduate taught programmes. There are also some potential sources of funding for Postgraduate Research programmes and your PhD supervisor may be able to provide advice on what options are available.

Accommodation

All undergraduate students are offered accommodation if they apply by 30 June 2019. Further accommodation information for international undergraduates on how to apply and what choices you have is available from our Accommodation Office.

There are some housing opportunities to international postgraduate students. Further accommodation information for international postgraduates is available from our Accommodation Office.

The confidence gained through obtaining this qualification will undoubtedly support me throughout my career.
