Biography

Within modern foreign languages, I have a strong interest in the impact of Primary Foreign Languages (PFL) on learner progress at KS3 and beyond. I am presently running a Master’s Level Collaborative Action Research project with seven Bristol schools (five primary, two secondary) which aims to research aspects of good practice in Transition in MFL.

My Masters dissertation was on the effect of Transition on learner motivation in MFL. Publications include 'Young learners of foreign languages and their transition to the secondary phase : a lost opportunity?' (Language Learning Journal, 2004) and her sole-authored article ‘Continuity or a fresh start? A case study of motivation in MFL at transition, KS2-3’(Language Learning Journal Volume 37 No. 2, 2009).
Media experience I have given talks in national CILT and ALL conferences on Transition from KS2 to 3 in Languages, and has been interviewed on this theme for Teacher’s TV.
