Research Interests
The language of learning as exemplified in ‘Learning Power’ (the characteristics and qualities of effective learners); personalised inquiry based learning; spirituality; and education in Church of England schools.
Biography
I am interested in how innovative teaching and learning practices can promote meaningful learning opportunities for children and young people.
I have previously worked on a number of projects including the National Evaluation of Sure Start and the Ecology of Learning, which developed and applied an assessment tool for building learning power dispositions in classrooms.
Research Projects
Spirituality, Learning and Personalisation (funded by the Jerusalem Trust) - this project draws on the notion of ‘Learning Power’, that is the characteristics and qualities of effective learners, and a personalised inquiry project to examine pedagogical practices which promote the integration of spiritual development and learning for young people.
