I am a Professor of Environmental Engineering and the Director of the Water and Health Research Centre at the University of Bristol. I am a member of the World Health Organisation Network to promote home water treatment and safe storage, and the Health-Related Water Microbiology Group within the International Water Association.
My research is concerned with health problems relating to drinking water quality, with particular reference to developing countries. Currently, I am leading a large, international team of researchers to develop a low cost water test for use in developing countries. The research programme is funded by the European Union and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
