Engineering Mathematics Education (EME), notably curriculum design, development and evolution at the interface between school and university, i.e. Foundation level. Following a close involvement with the design of the SEFI-MWG Common Core Curriculum the two textbooks were aimed at meeting the prerequisites and the underlying needs. Strong links with the SEFI-MWG continue now that the curriculum is being reconsidered.
Reporting, notably in the field of EME (q.v.) and writing articles on the evolution of mathematics education in professional bulletins and journals. Regular contributor to Mathematics Today.
Computer Aided Learning, Simulation and Assessment, i.e. the application of computer technology at all levels to support the teaching and learning process in mathematics and related subjects. The Test and Learn or TAL System uses expert systems and databases to construct totally random mathematical tests of specified difficulty and scope.
