| Areas of expertise |
I'm principally interested in mathematical modelling of real-world systems, from engineering to the life sciences. I work in the general area of nonlinear dynamical systems, especially those that are nonsmooth. Some current research projects include hearing mechanisms in mammals and insects, noise and vibration in gearboxes and atomic force microscopy.
