Areas of expertise My British Academy postdoctoral Research Fellowship examines multi-stakeholder efforts to formulate supranational consensual regulation of the biofuels industry, focusing on the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels. I will focus on the process of formulating and implementing the standards. The empirical case study will contribute to greater understanding of knowledge formation in global participatory policy processes, the theorisation of the formulation of supranational consensual regulation and, together, their implications for global citizenship and democracy.

Prior to this my doctorate, in Development Studies, (IDS, University of Sussex), and subsequent post-doc (IDPM, University of Manchester) concerned the highly contested policy and law-making process of land reform in South Africa's transition from apartheid. My research interests therefore continue to focus on such policy processes in the context of far-reaching global and national change.
