My research in metamorphic petrology focuses on the processes controlling the physical and chemical responses of rocks as they follow time, temperature, depth and strain trajectories in the Earth’s dynamic crust.
I presently study the mineral chemistry, petrology, textures and field relations of rocks from two different geological and temporal settings. In Greenland, the goal is improved understanding of the thickness, growth, thermal structure and thermal evolution of Archaean crust; while research in the Cycladic Islands (Greece) aims to unravel the mechanisms involved in material transfer from the subducted crust to the mantle.
I apply classic field and petrographic methods, as well as electron microprobe analysis, scanning electron microscopy and laser-ablation inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
