| Areas of expertise |
My expertise lies in the nonlinear vibration and control of mechanical engineering systems. My work has two main themes. Firstly experimental testing of nonlinear structures, particularly using hybrid testing techniques such as hardware-in-the-loop. The second theme is the vibration and control of lightly damped flexible structures such as beams, cables, plates and shells. There are a range of practical applications, the most recent of which relate to adaptive or "smart" structures.
