Areas of expertise My areas of research interest lie primarily in issues concerning the international protection of human rights, with particular focus on the freedom of religion and the prevention of torture I am currently Chair of the United Nations SubCommittee for Prevention of Torture, Member of the OSCE Advisory Council on the Freedom of Religion or Belief and a member of the UK Foreign Secretary's Advisory Commmittee on Human Rights. I also remain interested in issues concerning the international law of the sea.
Media experience I have given many interviews to the media and contributed to media discussions both in the UK and overseas on a broad range of issues concerning my areas of expertise. I have also written numerous short pieces for the press on a range of issues.
