My main research is in macroeconomics and my publications have covered consumer behaviour, rational expectations, new-Keynesian macroeconomics and the micro-foundations for Keynesian economics.
I have also worked in the area of poverty and income inequality. I assisted the Malaysian government when it re-set its poverty line. My proposal, submitted with colleagues from UNDP Malaysia and the Malaysian Economic Planning Unit (EPU), was approved by the Malaysian Cabinet as the basis of their future measurement and analysis of poverty. My work on poverty and income inequality was published in an EPU-UNDP monogaph: Malaysia: Measuring and Monitoring Poverty and Inequality.
I am currently investigating income distribution in Qatar, working with the General Secretariat for Development Planning, Doha.
