Areas of expertise I was the Senior NSPCC Research Fellow with the University of Luton for nine years until the fellowship transferred to Bristol in 2005. Prior to this I undertook a range of research projects for a number of UK children’s charities. Before embarking on my research career I worked as a residential social worker with adolescents and young people with disabilities. I have undertaken a range of studies including children who run away, protecting young people from racism and racial abuse, boys use of advice and counselling services and institutional child abuse. My most recent publication explored young people’s experiences of peer violence in residential children’s homes funded by the Economic and Social Research Council under its Violence Research Programme. I am currently undertaking work on young people’s experiences of exploitation and violence in their ‘dating’ relationships.
