| Areas of expertise |
My research group is interested in the synthesis, spectroscopic and structural characterisation of new materials exhibiting novel non-linear optical behaviour. There is particular expertise in the characterisation of new complexes by single crystal X-ray diffraction and projects may therefore primarily involve either synthetic chemistry, structural chemistry or a combination of these areas of research. The two major research areas are 'second-order non-linear optics (nlo)' and 'structural chemistry and molecular modelling' but my research group is also interested in studying the catalytic chemistry of new amine ligands (Ward/Jeffery) and developing the chemistry of novel self-assembled water-soluble polydentate phosphine iron complexes (in collaboration with Albright & Wilson).
